Embracing Change: Our Decision to Pivot from Web3

After a lot of brainstorming, soul-searching, and spirited discussions, we've decided to pivot from our previous focus on Web3 technology and move in a new direction.

Dear Valued Community,

I’m excited to share with you a significant decision that we’ve made at Fimio. After a lot of brainstorming, soul-searching, and spirited discussions, we’ve decided to pivot from our previous focus on Web3 technology and move in a new direction.

Before we move on, we want to give a huge shout out to our amazing Web3 community. Over this past year, we’ve witnessed the rapid growth and transformation of the blockchain and decentralized technology landscape. It has been an inspiring journey; we’ve had the privilege of working with many talented individuals and organizations in this space, and have learned so much along the way.

Here are some key things we’ve learned in our journey in Web3:

  • User experience (UX/UI) is a must, not a nice to have.
We have to make the experience of using Web3 technologies easy and delightful. Without this focus, gaining wide adoption will be difficult.
  • As an industry, we’re only scratching the surface of decentralized compute.
When we unlock the power of distributed computing, we will realize we can truly solve some massive problems in an affordable way.
  • In unstable environments, Web3 remains a hopeful way forward.
The ability to plug into global financial markets from unstable environments can not be overstated.
  • We should put as much emphasis on the internet of verifiable connections as much as we put on the internet of verifiable ownership.
There are a host of problems we can address if we harness the internet of verifiable connections, for example, electronic voting. Trustless systems allow us to build software that is credibly neutral. We need to continue working in this area to make sure we can have high throughput in these systems.

We recognize the incredible strides that are being made in the Web3 space, and we will continue to follow its development with interest. Our decision to pivot simply reflects our desire to explore new avenues where we believe we can make a more significant impact.

Deep at the heart of Fimio is the desire to build great tools for developers and ease the burden of going from thought to production. We remain committed to this vision.

Fimio is taking a new shape, and we’ll be back shortly.

Sincerely,
Omoju
CEO, Fimio

The Science of Deployment: Ensuring Reproducibility in Modern Software

As someone who earned my PhD in Interdisciplinary Computer Science and spent the last 10+ years working in machine learning, AI, and software development, I can confidently say: there’s a deployment problem across tech, and more broadly, there is a crisis of reproducibility in science. So what does that mean and why is it important? I’ve been thinking about that for years, and I’ve got answers.
